Star Wars Legend Mark Hamill Pays Tribute To Carrie Fisher And Peter Mayhew At Galaxys Edge
It was on the galaxy’s edge that Mark Hamill first met Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew, so it’s only fitting that the Star Wars legend paid tribute to his late friends while visiting Disney’s all-new theme park.
Recommended VideosVia Twitter, Hamill posted a poignant photo of himself standing alongside some of the biggest names in the Star Wars franchise: Harrison Ford, Billy Dee Williams, and the founding father himself, George Lucas. But in Hamill’s eyes, the picture wasn’t complete – and that’s despite the foursome standing beneath the iconic Millennium Falcon.
And so, he sought the help of his Twitter followers, at which point a designer by the name of ‘Luis’ added Fisher and Mayhew into the frame. It’s a lovely touch, and serves as yet another reminder that the original Star Wars actors really were a tight-knit family; this is simply Hamill’s way of keeping Fisher and Mayhew’s memories alive.
The only thing that could have made our visit to Galaxy’s Edge even better. #AlwaysWithUs
Mark Hamill will return to the Star Wars universe in some capacity (“no one’s ever really gone…”) when The Rise of Skywalker lights up theaters this December. We fully expect to see Carrie Fisher in action, too, albeit through the power of special effects (and clever editing!) as J.J. Abrams and his team plan to reuse some old footage from The Force Awakens.
And while there’s no official confirmation as of this writing, it would be incredibly fitting if the final chapter in Lucasfilm’s Skywalker Saga included a tribute to Peter Mayhew, the original Chewbacca, who sadly passed away in April of this year. Let’s not forget that The Last Jedi featured a similar tribute to the late, great Carrie Fisher, so it’s certainly not outside the realm of possibility.
